Los Angeles is a place of dreams, some that are acted upon and some that fade away.
It is a place of people, from all over the world that feel compelled to chase said dreams
A place of sunshine, 95% of the time.
*Except for Monday, where it annoyingly rained.
As my brother would say of the weather, LA people are "soft".
Los Angeles is a place of comparison.
Where one's neighbor will always be more famous or fashionable or distinguished.
While one's other neighbors struggle to find housing and work.
The power of Los Angeles is hard to describe. There is exhilarating yet stressful energy that is ever-present.
I felt the power of Los Angeles so deeply last week. It was perfect summer weather all week, sunny and 75. I booked almost every hour of the week, from workouts and tests to social events and group projects. On Wednesday, I went to a live taping of James Corden which was so exciting. I tried to talk to all of the workers about their experiences in entertainment, as I aim to soak up any advice or potential new paths.
Over the weekend, I helped as a production assistant for a completely student-led concert at the Coliseum. Interacting with motivated, creative, and talented students to pull off a large-scale event was one of the coolest moments of my college career so far. I really pushed my comfort zone and the power of LA did not disappoint. I am reassured of my passion for creation, storytelling, and making memorable moments for others.
After a whirlwind concert experience, I went on a hike near Santa Monica the following morning. I was still overwhelmed and trying to process everyone's hard work, when I noticed a celebrity right by me. Instead of being star-struck, I realized that this person was just living their daily life. We are all just humans trying to make it in the same place, and there is no right path.
We can let this power inspire us, or we can let it destroy us. I am banking on the first option, and am excited to see where it may take me.
